Facilitators & Practitioners

Made by working artists, not instructors

Our retreats are led by active papermakers, ceramists, and pigment mullers who live and work in the Makhonjwa range. They share rigorous, practical techniques forged from years of regional material exploration.

Lead Pigment Muller [TBC]

Specializes in locating, sieving, and wedging local Barberton clays, teaching artists how to wedge raw earth and fire without commercial kilns.

Expert in beating mulberry bark, reed, and cotton rag to pull damp sheets directly from wooden vats for traditional printmaking and drawing.

Gathers raw ochres and earth stones from the hillsides, mulling them by hand on glass slabs with natural binders into rich oil and tempera paint.

Our Standard

You do not buy paper here; you beat mulberry bark and pull sheets straight from the vat. Our instruction comes from the real weight of timber, stone, and ash in your hands.
